Degree Plan Options
Thesis Option - 30 Hours
This option requires 24 hours of regular coursework plus 6 hours of thesis selected as follows:
- MECE 6310 - Intermediate Engineering Analysis - 3 Hours
- MECE 7300 Master's Thesis - and MECE 7301 Master's Thesis II - 6 Hours
- 21 hours of additional courses chosen with the consent of the student's advisor. At least 15 hours must be in Mechanical Engineering, and up to 6 hours may be selected from other programs within the College of Science and Engineering with prior approval from the faculty advisor and Graduate Program Director.
Report Option - 36 Hours
This options requires 30 hours of regular coursework plus 6 hours of report selected as follows:
- MECE 6310 - Intermediate Engineering Analysis - 3 Hours
- MECE 6398 - Master's Report (May be repeated once for credit) - 6 Hours
- 27 hours of additional courses chosen with the consent of the student's advisor. At least 21 hours must be in Mechanical Engineering, and up to 6 hours may be selected from other programs within the College of Science and Engineering with prior approval from the faculty advisor and Graduate Program Director.
Non-Thesis Option - 36 Hours
This option requires 36 hours of regular coursework selected as follows:
- MECE 6310 - Intermediate Engineering Analysis - 3 Hours
- 33 hours of additional courses chosen with the consent of the student's advisor. At least 27 hours must be in Mechanical Engineering, and up to 6 hours may be selected from other programs within the College of Science and Engineering with prior approval from the faculty advisor and Graduate Program Director.
Additionally, the option requires exit exams.
