Advising

Departmental advising for the Fall 2008 semester will take place March 27 to April 4.  To get advised by a Mechanical Engineering Faculty member, be sure to follow these instructions:

 
  1. Read through all the instructions at least once before proceeding to the second step.
  2. Use the table below to determine who your advisor is.
  3. Schedule a 15-minute appointment at least one day in advance.  Please use only one of the following options:
    • Option 1: write-in an appointment on your advisor's calendar.  Your advisor may have a calendar posted outside his/her office for you to write in you appointment.
    • Option 2: schedule your appointment on-line.  Note that currently this option is only available for students advised by Drs. Mahdi or Kypuros.  To schedule an appointment on-line, check your advisor's schedule by clicking the link provided in the "Schedule" column in the table below.  Then proceed to the Schedule an Appointment Website to submit your request electronically.

  4. Complete the Advising Information Form provided at Dr. Crown's Mechanical Engineering Advising Page.
  5. Complete and submit the on-line Advising Spreadsheet at least one day before your appoint.
    • Select the appropriate semester from the pull down menu when you began taking courses.
    • Click the arrow by each course taken in that semester.
    • Continue with each semester up through the current semester.
    • Select courses that you plan to take in the next semester or two.
    • Be careful not to violate course prerequisites.
    • Save the worksheet to the database so that it is available for your advisor.
    • Watch the tutorial movie if you need help viewing the advisor's copy.
    • Click on the worksheet below to get started.
